On 1. October, it was made possible to register beneficial owners in the new register of beneficial owners. By 31. July 2025, companies, several associations, foundations and others must register their beneficial owners in the register.
The new register will provide society with important information about who is behind businesses in Norway, and in this way contribute to the counteract economic crime. The register shall provide an overview of information on ownership and control of enterprises that carry out activities in Norway. By identifying the beneficial owners of an enterprise, public authorities, reporting entities and other interested parties with access to the register will obtain information about who is ultimately in charge of the enterprise.
As a registered accountant, we at Grant Thornton can assist in reporting this information by providing a supplementary agreement to existing assignments.
